Join us for a variety of events designed for MX-5 enthusiasts across New Zealand. Whether it’s a scenic cruise through winding coastal roads, a drive through rolling countryside, or a spirited run along mountain passes, our club brings together drivers who enjoy getting the most out of their MX-5.

Each region hosts regular events, from social meetups and classic car shows to track days and multi-day road trips exploring some of the country’s best driving routes. MX-5 Womens trip

Imagine a convoy of five MX-5s, each driven by adventurous and independent women, embarking on an unforgettable journey through the stunning landscapes of New Zealand. As they cruise through the scenic routes, laughter and camaraderie fill the air, creating memories that will last a lifetime. In Taupo, these five women, each with either daughters or granddaughters, will spend five nights immersing themselves in thrilling activities.

From the charming Wairarapa region comes one car driven by a woman with a passion for exploration. Three more cars join from Whangarei, each driven by women who are eager to experience every moment of the adventure. And from the far north comes another car, driven by a woman with a spirit of wonder lust. Parasailing over the pristine waters of Lake Taupo, bungy jumping, and bungy swinging, soaking in natural hot pools, and enjoying a round of Mini-golf surrounded by adorable rabbits – with a round of 10-pin bowling thrown into the mix. All these experiences were embraced wholeheartedly by these adventurous women.

After completing several runs down the Luge with plenty of laughter, their evening at the Stratosfare Restaurant in Rotorua was a celebration of friendship and empowerment, where they toasted their shared experiences and the bond forged through their journey. As they explore Taupo, they eagerly anticipate the chance to see the supercars that grace the streets, revelling in the thrill of adventure and the freedom of the open road. When some car enthusiasts met us in Taupo after having seen our cars driving in convoy, they were surprised to see that the drivers were all females! Sadly, this experience had to come to an end with all cars making their way back safely to various homes. Memories that will last forever. Looking forward to next year.

Driver’s Delight

MX‑5 events NZ,MX‑5 club drives,MX‑5 meetupsWe met up at our usual spot at BP Southern Motorway on a stunning, clear winter day. The Classic Porsche Club was already there, but we quickly outnumbered them, and thankfully, they headed off for their cruise before us, leaving room for more MX-5s. I think we had around 30 cars by the time we were ready to head off. El Presidente Allan “Booty” Boot had planned an awesome run through the North Waikato, including some of the roads Allan and Frank were on for the Targa tour.

We were asked to split into three groups, spirited, enthusiastic, or relaxed, so everyone could pick a pace they were comfortable with. With such a big group, the staggered departure also made it a bit easier for the pub and café, with not to have all of us arriving at the same time. We picked the ‘spirited pack’ and soon found ourselves pulling away and splitting into a “super spirited pack”. Driver’s Delight certainly lived up to its name, with an awesome mix of tight twisties, straights, and beautiful scenery on some of North Waikato’s best back country roads.

After 107 K’s of awesomeness, the drivers arrived at the Rangiriri Pub for lunch with massive smiles on our dials. However, I’m guessing some of the passengers - like my wifey (sorry, honey) didn’t enjoy the twisties as much as the drivers. After fuelling our bodies, the “super spirited pack” headed off for stage 2, while some of the relaxed group was just ordering their lunch. Stage 2 roads were just as awesome, another 110km zig-zagging north, including some of the Targa roads, across the Mighty Waikato River, and arrived at the Urban Soul Café for a caffeine fix to finish the day. Days like these are why the MX-5 was made. A true driver’s car, built to experience NZ’s beauty topless!!! Thanks Allan for booking the sunny day and arranging an awesome drive through some stunning roads.
