The MX-5 Car Club of New Zealand has been celebrating the world’s most loved roadster since its formation in 1990, just months after the first MX-5s hit Kiwi roads. What started as a handful of enthusiastic early adopters quickly grew into a nationwide community that now spans 12 active regions, hundreds of members, and decades of memories.
We exist to bring together people who share a deep appreciation for the MX-5 - whether it’s the classic charm of the NA, the precision of the ND, or anything in between. More than just a car club, we’re a tight-knit community built around shared experiences: weekend drives through twisty backroads, show-and-shine gatherings, technical workshops, and countless conversations over bonnets and coffee.
As custodians of this spirited little car’s legacy in New Zealand, we’re proud to keep the MX-5 culture alive and thriving - from first-time owners to long-time modifiers, from younger fans to the original pioneers. We believe the MX-5 isn’t just a car - it’s a lifestyle, and one that’s better when shared.
The Club is open to all owners of Mazda MX5s, Eunos Roadsters and Mazda Miatas. It’s the same car, with different names in different countries. We mainly cater for New Zealanders; however, anyone is welcome to join as an associate member.

How the Club Is Organised
The MX-5 Car Club is guided by a national committee, including roles such as President, Secretary, and Treasurer, who are elected annually. Each of the 12 regions has its own Coordinator, helping to organise local events and keep members connected across the country. Together, they ensure the club runs smoothly and reflects the voices of its members.
